Fotos Tsunami no Japão – 05 anos após a tragédia

Há 05 anos, quando o nordeste do Japão foi atingido pelo forte tremor de 9 graus de magnitude (no dia 11 de março de 2011), a primeira coisa que o fotógrafo Shinpei Kikuchi, de 67 anos, fez foi pegar a câmera e sair correndo para a região mais alta da cidade. “Corri em direção a um centro de evacuação com o tsunami perto dos meus calcanhares”, lembra o japonês, que passou a fotografar toda a fuga. “Não tirei as fotos com o objetivo de fazer um registro daquele acontecimento para mostrar às pessoas depois. Foi apenas um instinto”, diz. As fotos de Kikuchi hoje viajam o Japão todo e, na semana que marca os cinco anos de uma das piores tragédias naturais da história do país, a exposição foi aberta em Tóquio. “Na medida do possível, quero que as pessoas não se esqueçam daquele dia. Quero que elas vejam as fotos e percebam também que a reconstrução está sendo feita”, explica.

AbrigoKikuchi voltou a viver na antiga casa com a esposa e os três filhos em Kamaishi, sua cidade natal localizada na província de Iwate, e que foi praticamente destruída pelas ondas gigantes.

Algumas das imagens mais fortes da tragédia são da pequena cidade, dos primeiros locais atingidos pelo tsunami. No dia de seu maior teste, os muros construídos para conter o mar não aguentaram a força da natureza.

Daquele dia em diante, o fotógrafo e a família passaram a viver como refugiados em abrigo provisório. Alguns meses depois foram para uma moradia alugada, enquanto reformavam a antiga casa.

“Tem gente que não sabe se vai poder sair dos abrigos temporários e retornar a suas casas antigas. Morar em outro lugar é uma possibilidade”, lamenta.

Segundo dados oficiais do governo japonês, um total de 15.894 pessoas morreram no terremoto de 9 graus seguido de tsunami, que devastou o litoral nordeste do Japão. Outras 2.572 pessoas continuam na lista de desaparecidos.
